Standoff!!
STANDOFF comes back on Friday!!!! It's only been six months since we saw an episode, but it's all good!
Everyone needs to tune into FOX at 9pm on June 8th!!!
Here's what you missed so far...
Pilot- Excellent Pilot, it did what it was supposed to do. It hooked me and millions of others- the ratings reflected that too! I loved the chemistry with Ron and Rosemaire, they made Matt and Emily believeable. Some of the best TV script I have ever seen was the talk from the stairwell- to the elevator-to Cheryl's office. Love the banter- I knew this was a great show.
Circling- Good plot and interesting format with the flight controllers. I knew the writers were decent after this one. I loved the coaching of the pilot they brought in at the end. Matt not wanting him to be over the top and Emily hitting him in the back to step it up. Classic stuff-
Shanghi'd- Emily caught my eye in this one- her playfulness came out in the end of this one, and she showed to be one smart cookie in the negotiation. After all she was the one who got Lia to transfer the calls. Matt looked for a reaction with her, he got more than he bargained for with the 'hot' comment.
Partners in Crime- Booty-call. That about says it all. LOL
This one had it all, action, the romance and the story tied into the romance so dang good. We start to see the importance of Emily to Matt, the attachment is forming. This show rocked!!!!
Then the crappy baseball break happened.
Life Support- Ron was the draw for the show and he was put forefront to continue the draw after the break. This show delved into his past. I enjoyed it greatly. I thought it sucked that it was on Halloween night, I felt we lost viewers because of this big time. Ratings were not accurate and the critics jumped on the numbers. The bashing became non-stop.
One Shot Stop- Oops, yep, people do actually get killed in federal work too. I like this episode. I have said this before, but I love the poetic ending. A sniper dies a sniper's death. Perfect and the writers continue to amaze me with connections- in this we have brothers of all kinds having problems.
Man of Steele- I hated Avery Steele, as much as I hated Anya. this was the break through episode for Emily, she was freaking fantastic and in my opinion out shined Matt in the acting, and character categories. This was a great Emily episode. I liked the subtle romance of the blink.
Heroine- I didn't like Matt in this episode either. I am one of the very few people on the boards that thought Matt was just about a player. I thought he was not scripted properly and the writers tread some dangerous waters early on in the series. Yes, he was redeemed as Emily 's man, but I didn't like the answer he gave Anya in the apt. Still don't. Emily was the professional in this one.
I see this episode as the one that sets Matt up for BIG trouble in the future. He doesn't follow rules and is always going to be over the line in his decision making.
Peer Group- We got some on Em but we were left wanting more. I like the subtle humor again. I did not care for this one, it is my least favorite. But I again sing the praises of Ron and Ro's public service announement at the end that got a troubled youth to call a help line. Nice touch and all class there at the end. Actors don't have to do those you know.
Accidental Negotiator- Obviously a show that should have fallen where it was intended to show, about the fourth episode. But good call on the producer to pull that and go into the baseball break on the booty-call scene. This was heavy in cop humor and relationship fears. This was a great episode, could be in my top three easily.
Borderline- I liked this one too- it put these two where they needed to be, facing something pretty dang serious and facing themselves as more than partners. I like that dichotomy. I think Ron was very good with the emotional outpouring in this one. His crushed look at the retort of Thank-you by Em haunts me to this day. He so wanted her to say I love you. Matt wears his emotions on his sleeve. This actually worked out to be a great cliff hanger.
